Immediate Action Needed: Call Your Representative Today

According to the American Alliance of Museums (AAM), Representatives Dina Titus (D-NV-01) and Suzanne Bonamici (D-OR-01) are circulating a letter for other members of the House of Representatives to sign onto asking the Administration to reconsider the executive order that guts the Institute of Museum and Library Services (IMLS). Please CALL your members of the House of Representatives to ask them to sign onto the letter. The deadline for members of Congress to sign onto the letter is the end of the day Friday, March 28. Calling will be the most effective tactic given this time sensitive opportunity.

The American Alliance of Museums has created a draft script you may use. Enter your address to display your House member's phone number and the template script.

Please note: Last week, Deputy Secretary of Labor Keith Sonderling was appointed Acting Director of IMLS, tasked with implementing the executive order to reduce federal bureaucracy at IMLS.

Next Steps to Expand Your Advocacy

In addition to calling your member of the House of Representatives ASAP, you can expand your advocacy on behalf of IMLS by contacting your Senators or state and local representatives via phone or email. AAM has created templates for these letters, calling on elected officials to speak up to the Administration about the importance of IMLS. If you have a moment to personalize the template, your message will be even more effective!

Last Call: Federal Funding Survey Closing March 31

As the landscape continues to evolve, the Cultural Alliance is asking arts, culture, and humanities organizations to fill out our survey on the consequences of the loss of federal funding. We want to hear about how executive orders impacting the IMLS, NEA, NEH, and other federal funding sources will affect your organization’s operations, educational services, and programming plans. The survey is open until March 31:
